Dennis teaches all of his classes and workshops in the time honored tradition of Shruti, which in Sanskrit means that which is heard. In this way there is a direct connection between the teacher and the student. All classes and workshops are available through live phone conferencing so the student can participate in a real time learning environment no matter where they reside, locally, nationally or internationally. Your instructor, Dennis Flaherty, is one of the four foundational people who co-sponsored the International Symposiums on Vedic Astrology that brought the great teachers of Vedic Astrology to speak to live western audiences the last two decades.  He continues that tradition each year by offering live phone conferencing classes in Vedic Astrology at the NW Institute of Vedic Sciences. Dennis is one of the founding members of the CVA. He is an approved teacher of the CVA and all classes and workshops count toward CVA certification.

Mentoring Foundation Class

Astronomy for Right Minded Vedic Astrologers

The early Vedic astrologers were calendar makers entrusted by community to choose the favorable, and avoid the difficult times for major decisions and events. In this class Dennis will present a right-minded astronomical overview of the heavens specifically geared toward students of Vedic astrology. He will explain the astronomical symbolism of the sidereal zodiac, the Nakshatras, and fixed stars, as well as the rotation of the earth, which creates the rising of the constellations, planets and the stars that determine your chart. Dennis will clearly explain how the laws of astronomy translate into the symbolism we call Vedic Astrology.

Developing Your Psychic Profile

This workshop is about recognizing and learning about our different psychic gifts. Each psychic sense has singular characteristics that will be explored. Dharma: Discovering Purpose During Difficult Times

It is often said that difficult times have a hidden reward. That reward does not lie in pratyavava, the obstacle itself, but rather in the dharmic purpose of the challenge. All too often the emphasis of difficult times is on blame, fault and enduring the insult of the difficulty, rather than taking a pro-active purposeful stance regarding it. Lord Krishna proclaims in the Bhagavad-Gita: “There is nothing better for a Kshatriya, a spiritual warrior, than a battle in accord with dharma”. This emphasis on dharma during difficult times has the potential to lead us into a place of self-discovery at journeys end. When that understanding is reached, the duration of hardship ends, and the process of liberation begins. No matter how obstructing the reign of the malefic planets, when dharma emerges darkness, pain and despair begin their transcendent journey to light, forbearance and hope. In the Gita Krishna says: “The wise, their intellect united with the Self, having renounced the fruits of actions and being liberated from the bonds of birth, arrive at a state devoid of suffering”. In the Prophet Kahlil Gibran says: “Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding”. This workshop will focus on understanding and mitigating the obstructing planetary forces, and reinforcing the purposeful planetary forces to reveal that unwavering dharma is the hidden reward of difficult times.
